Luxury Home Market Grows as $ Shrinks

December 30th, 2004 · No Comments

Luxury homes are seeing more than just dollar signs, they are seeing the pound and the euro as well. As the U.S. dollar drops in comparison to European currencies, Britons, Irish, and Scots are reinvesting in their vacation getaways much further from home. The beach communities of La Jolla, Del Mar and Coronado in San Diego County could all be benifitiaries of this trend.

Typically, Europeans choose second homes in other European countries but with the pound equaling $1.94, British buyers are getting nearly two homes for the price of one. These currency adjustments are attracting Europeans to buy luxury property in the U.S. and sometimes buy out local competition who are using the weaker dollar.
