Your Home Is a Stage

January 10th, 2006 · No Comments

By using a few simple staging techniques you can increase the value of your home. It’s a simple process of decorating your home for sale ~ here are a few tips;

Think clean and open spaces for your home as you stage. Let light in and clear out the dust and cobwebs. The better your home looks, the easier it will be to sell.

Cut down on the clutter. Clear off all surfaces and keep only a few decorative accessories. To help eliminate excess items in your home ~ start your packing early and give yourself a head start.

Remove all personal items and photographs: it is easier for homebuyers to envision themselves in your home if personal items are removed.

Eliminate odors from pets, smoking and cooking. Keep your home smelling clean, fresh and new. If it’s possible send your pets to live with other family members ~ those who will give them lots of love.

Keep countertops in your kitchen and bathrooms clear. New towels and fresh linens make an instant impact and are inexpensive. Add a vase of fresh cut flowers or some candles. They add color and great aroma.

Let buyers see the rooms in your home. A dining room should look like a dining room and a living room should be a living room. Clean out your garage so that it doesn’t look like a storage unit.

Don’t forget about the exterior of you home. Buy a new doormat, some hanging baskets or some potted flowers for the front door. Sweep and dust the front entrance area ~ make it welcoming.

You don’t need to be a decorator to prepare you home for a sale. First impressions should be lasting and positive.
