January 17th, 2006 · No Comments

If you would like to live an urban lifestyle in a central location, you should consider investing in downtown San Diego real estate. Downtown San Diego is evolving into one of the most exciting urban districts anywhere. It is a desirable place to live, work, shop, learn, and play. It’s nestled between Balboa Park and San Diego Bay and offers one of the best and most moderate climate’s in the world.

Sales for 2005 in the downtown area recorded 780 homes (almost all condos) sold totaling $544,875.897, with the average sale price of a home now at $698,558. Since 1999, more than 6500 new condos have been sold in downtown San Diego with another 5,000 units expected to come onto the market by the end of 2007.

The significant redevelopment efforts in downtown San Diego began in the 1980’s with Horton Plaza and the Gaslamp District. The downtown area has become a shopping, eating and entertainment destination. The growth of residential development is being complimented by new parks, grocery stores, fitness centers and neighborhood centers. Petco Park, the new ballpark, and the expansion of the convention center has brought in new hotels and supporting businesses. Downtown San Diego has been a strong investment for quite awhile and will continue to be a hot market for years to come. With a community plan in place, we look forward to continued positive change and growth in the downtown core.
