La Jolla on the map with the Davis Cup

February 14th, 2006 · No Comments

La Jolla California is already well known as one of the most sought after places to live - it’s reguarly on the top “where to live” lists like the Robb Report. La Jolla’s Torrey Pines golf Course also hosts the Buick International Golf Tournament every year.

Now La Jolla is back in the news as the host of the first round of the 2006 Davis Cup. The La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club was transformed for the event.

“It was awesome,” said U.S. captain Patrick McEnroe. “The guys had a great week. We were treated extremely well. I mean, you couldn’t ask for a better site and location, and the organization was fantastic. The crowd was great. We were packed every day. We probably could have doubled the crowd, but we like to keep it intimate in Davis Cup.”
