San Diego Real Estate marketing and “attraction” ….

August 23rd, 2007 · 1 Comment

At 7:00am this morning I began my day by lacing up my runners, securing my 7 month old in her jogging stroller and out I went to pound the pavement.  This all in hopes to erase the fog from my head and eyes - it worked!  While running along a path I almost ran over a rabbit, said good morning to a horse and watched carefully as a deer and her baby were having their breakfast.  Only a mile from the beach with the breeze and the smell of the ocean to put a spring in my step – I quickly remembered why we live in beautiful San Diego.

As I ran along the path I was reviewing in my head my listings, their progress and what needed to be done.  Things have been a little slow, understandably due to the fact that we are in the third week of August.  Most people are either busy enjoying travels, living in San Diego, trying to get rid of visitors or are preparing to get rid of their kids (back to school).  In a few weeks when things settle down we should see a pick up in the market again for a couple of months.

Saying this though – it is not as gloomy as everyone thinks – no thanks to the NEGATIVE voice of the media.  Our buyer’s agents are busy and three of our listings just went into escrow.  SO – properties are finding buyers. As a listing agent I still struggle with sellers  who think that their homes are worth more than the market will stand - keeping in mind that a house is only worth as much as a buyer is willing to pay at any given time!!

Sure the market is different than it was two years ago  Having the right attitude, being cooperative and communicating are all necessary factors in a healthy and productive relationship, so think of your relationship with your Realtor as a TEAM. If priced right, in good condition and in the right location they are selling. Your selling agent is trying to help you in getting your home sold – work with them – talk things out – voice concerns but above all be positive and listen.  Homes are selling and yours could be next….. be helpful and positive.

Think about why you loved living in your home and neighborhood.  Prepare a list of things to do and see around your home and give it to your Realtor.  Tell buyers why they will love living in your home and neighborhood.  Tell them about the frozen yogurt shop down the street or the great happy hour at your favorite restaurant, a fabulous sunset spot, a nice walk ……

There are always buyers around …. take advantage of the laws of attraction - attract them to you! Written by Angela Meakins, listing agent for the Peter Toner Team.
