La Jolla - Mt. Soledad Landslide

October 5th, 2007 · No Comments

An emotional and financial loss for homeowners. This week two homes were destroyed and many others evacuated or deemed uninhabitable by a major land movement on Mt. Soledad. Many are asking how could this tragedy have been prevented? Many are pointing fingers and placing blame, while others sit back and say we should’ve seen it coming. The city is saying not I, the homeowners are saying they are victims and the lawyers are coming out of the woodwork ….

The details of this terrible parlay of events will be sure to be talked about for the months to come. With that being said, what is a buyer to do if they are looking for a home on a hillslide? How do they protect themselves from this type of uninsured loss? The answer is simple ~ research. This is a perfect case in point where a quality agent familiar with the area will be aware of the potential risks involved with the property. They may not be an expert, but they will know what information and reports to review to help guide you in making a decision that is right for you.

Would you be protected if you used a rebate broker to represent you? Possibly not - don’t count on them advising you about the risks involved, they may not have even seen the house! This is a perfect example of why a quality Real Estate agent adds value to a buyer’s transaction!

We wrote before about representation “I foresee a “Flight to Quality”. Quality professional services from quality companies and quality advisors.”
