Train like an Athlete and We will Succeed

October 29th, 2007 · No Comments

girl-running.jpgThe key to real estate agents surviving in any market in San Diego (or anywhere else) is applying the same mentally one does when training to be an athlete. Realtors must work and train hard physically and mentally and stay focused on a successful finish. An athlete since my youth it is this mentality learned from my coaches that I have taken with me  successfully to the business world.

Take for instance this past month’s activity. Although the market is “slow” I have opened 5 escrows. Some were with new clients and others were with clients that I have been working with for over a year.

During one of my escrows not only did we find out an unfortunate suicide occurred prior to the sale but later the home was found to be vandalized and broken in to! I advised my buyers to stay both focused and positive and to continue to work towards their ultimate goal… moving into their new home. The owners agreed to repair the home and we are moving forward.

I think it helps to take on the role of a coach, preparing clients mentally about what to expect during the escrow process and how to handle last minute surprises. My clients appreciate the stamina and mentality I have, confidant that I will work hard in their best interest.

The Press bombards all of us with negative media and peer feedback. You can choose to let that slow you down, or choose to “train” like an athlete and work even harder than before.

I choose to continue to focus on my clients success.
