San Diego Hiking Trails ~ Hiking with an Ocean View!

March 4th, 2008 · No Comments

This weekend a friend of mine and I went hiking out at Torrey Pines on Sunday morning. It was early and I had expected it to be cool, but that was not the case the weather was warm and the breeze was absolutely refreshing. The sky was clear and the ocean was sparkling for as far as the eye could see. It is amazing how different the hiking paths can look dependent on the season. I hadn’t been out to the trails in some time and the wild flowers were in full bloom. I had never seen the trails spotted with so much color before, and it was a wonderful surprise.

Yes there were plenty of surfers, but this was something different. As we picked up our pace and got closer to the look out point, we realized it was dolphins. Not just a few, but over 20 dolphins gliding in the water. I have never seen that before, and I got the chills. The dolphins seemed so happy playing together in the water. Many of them were even taking the time to literally catch a wave next to a surfer. It was an awesome experience, and I was so grateful that I got to see it!

We watched those dolphins for as long as we could still see them, mesmerized we continued our hike. We both commented on how lucky we were to live in San Diego and enjoy such an amazing place like the Torrey Pines hiking trails. We woke up on Sunday excited to go on a hike with an ocean view… who would’ve known we’d see a view into the world of its majestic creatures!
